Senior Football Final

Clara played Rhode in the senior championship final on Sunday loosing to Rhode 3-9 Clara 2-11.
McNamee's seventh-minute goal handed Rhode the early initiative, but that lead was quickly cancelled out by Thomas Deehan's punched effort at the opposite end in the 13th minute. Anton Sullivan restored Rhode's advantage with their second goal in the 17th minute, but Clara finished the half strongly with points from John O'Hara and Deehan to go into the break on level terms, 1-4 to 2-1.

McNamee's second major in the 39th minute put Rhode back in the driving seat, but with John Reynolds, O'Hara and Deehan asserting themselves, Clara were back on level terms heading into the final quarter. Niall Darby accurate free-taking and McNamee, who fired over two points, Rhode had opened up a four-point advantage before O'Hara pulled back a Clara goal in injury-time. However, it was a case of too little, too late as the green and golds held on the claim the Dowling Cup for 2010. The game had an attendance of 6,500.
