Clara U14 hurlers defeated Shamrocks in Clara on Friday July 21. The home team dominated the first half with Willie Fleming having a brilliant night in goal. Jamie Murray, Liam Monaghan and Niall Keegan held a strong full back line with Richie Slammon, Bobby Mitchell and Stephen O'Brien working well together in the half back. Clara were ahead 3-5 to 1-1 at the end of the first half with goals from Martin Hackett, Owen Wyer and Lee Scanlon, with Niall Keegan, Stephen O'Brien, Barry Cushen and Lee Scanlon all scoring points.
Shamrocks came back in the second half scoring 2 goals and 4 points, but Clara retaliated when sub Joe O'Meara scored a goal followed by a further goal and point from Barry Cushen, and a point from Adam Scanlon leaving Clara victorious by a final score of Clara 5-7, Shamrocks 3-5. The win puts Clara in the championship semi-final.
