Members have been working on this for the last few weeks organising the event and seeking sponsorship in aid of Temple Street University Children's Hospital.  Enthusiastic players and supporters started arriving from 9am on Saturday morning to setup.

Refreshments for the day were wheeled in, with trays of sandwiches, tea and coffee, biscuits and Burco boilers on the go!  Finely tuned athletes turned up with bottles of water, Deep heat spray, finger/knee and wrist strappings, inhalers and non-chip nail varnish!   A jukebox music system was even on hand to add to the atmosphere, though some players music choices were more in tune with Ballroom of Romance days rather than Rihanna's Umbrella.

From the start there was a queue of players waiting to get a game.  Games were played at a frenetic pace right from the start with six a side playing to 11 points per game to give a quick turnaround of teams.  All games were full of enthusiasm and fun with seasoned pro's mixing with absolute beginners.

During the day a couple of games were organised for younger kids which was tremendous fun to watch.  A special Ladies hour of games took place between 6 and 7, with the lads cheering on from the sidelines.

Members who play every week played some very competitive games with no quarter given, and referee's took their lives in hand with some contentious decisions at times.  Rumours abound that dubious referees will be named and shamed (Tommy, Andrew and Seamus beware!).

During the final quarter of the day the number of supporters grew and the atmosphere was fantastic. The level of excitement, energy (even from those with aching bodies), and cracking good humour was an absolute joy to behold and to be part of.

It really has to be stated that the event had a tremendous "community feel" to it, throughout the day and in particular into the evening portion.   Great thanks to all who participated, helped out, supported and sponsored.  We hope this is a sign of renewed community and club spirit which augurs well for the future!

Oh! and here's some of the gang recovering afterwards in the Casualty department in Carey's
